Coconut
Grove is a 16.1 hand, very attractive, bay Thoroughbred. He
is an amazing athlete and can literally jump from anywhere
and clear fences. He has unlimited spring, scope and an unbelievable
desire to jump his best. Coconut Grove comes from a lineage
of international jumpers and proven sires of showjumpers.
The ability to produce a grand prix jumper is not accidental.
Prominent breeders in Europe that have produced world-famous
grand-prix showjumpers have similarities in their Thoroughbred
pedigrees. There are several great lines of Thoroughbred sires
of international jumpers and Coconut Grove shares in this
lineage.
Coconut
Grove descends from the Bold Ruler / Damascus cross, lineage
proven to produce international caliber jumpers. This combination
of blood produced the legendary Grand Prix jumper and sire,
NAPUR, a multiple Grand Prix winner and Best American Horse
- 1987 World Cup Finals.
Dare
To Pet, sire of Coconut Grove descends from the sire line
of Bold Commander , a ¾ brother to Mighty Ruler who was a
Grand Prix winner and member of the 1974 USET Team. Bold Commander
descends from the great Bold Ruler, second Leading Race Horse
Sire of the Century, he appears in the pedigrees of Allegro,
member of the Prix de Nations and Nations Cup teams and Prezzurized,
multiple Grand Prix winner.
The male
female line is represented by Roman, sire of Volunteer, Nations
Cup winner in 1980 & Canadian team Gold Medal winner and Dutch
Crown, 2nd American Gold Cup 1979 and a Puissance winner at
6’10”. The male female lines also contain John's Joy, sire
of Jet Run, individual and team Gold Medal Winner - Pan Am
Games 1979. The strong jumper producing lines of *Bleinheim,
Teddy, Dark Ronald an Hyperion are also found in the male
side of the pedigree.
Coconut
Grove's dam Coral Gables produced Satra, who was a member
of the National Show Jumping team for Colombia. Coral Gables
is a descendant of the great race horse sire, Damascus, 1967
Horse of the Year and a producer of 415 winners of over $26,000,000.00.
Damascus sired Mokheiba, 8th All Time Sire of Steeplechase
winners and NAPUR, the well known Grand Prix jumper who is
the sire of many hunter, jumper winners, including Get A Clue,
winner of the individual gold and team silver at the Young
Riders of No. American Championships and the Jr/Am Rider of
the Year at Spruce Meadows in 1998. Present in the dam’s sire
line is *MyBabu, who produced the exceptional jumper sire,
The Hammer, who sired the phenomenal jumpers Sympatico, leading
Grand Prix horse 1972-75, Golden Gavel, USET team member and
Jackson County, leading jumper in 1979. Sire lines of Man
o'War and Tourbillon are present.
The
dam’s female family contains Nashrulla, Leading Racehorse
Sire & Sire of the Century and the Nearco sire lines. The
list of great jumpers descending from these two lines include:
Johnny's Pocket, USET team member, Lucky Boy, World Cup winner
and AGA All Time Money winner, Chase the Clouds, Top 10 Jumper
in the World and Leapy Lad , 7th AGA Horse of the Year.

Coconut Grove is an exquisite thoroughbred stallion with a
beautiful head and expression. He has a medium build and is
correct in his conformation and legs. He has a good temperament
with a willing and honest character. With a quality pedigree,
an outstanding performance record and sound conformation,
Coconut Grove exemplifies the best of what an exceptional
thoroughbred stallion has to offer a breeding program. He
is an excellent choice to produce jumpers and event horses.
Performances
and Results: Coconut Grove won the young horse competition
of Colombia in 1993. He was Res. Champion in both the National
Jr. Rider and Young Rider Championships in 1994. From 1995-96
he won numerous Open Jumper classes and small Grand Prixs.
He won 3 consecutive National
Show Jumping Championships in Colombia 1997-99. He was champion
in the Bolivarianos Games 1997, Champion in the Toyota Cup
- World Cup Qualifier 1998, Res. Champion in the Centro American
Games 1998, Res. Champion - World Cup Qualifier in Venezuela
1998. Coconut Grove was the Best South American Horse - Team
5th - Pan Am Games 1999, 3rd $100,000.00 U.S. Open Jumper
Championships and 6th in the WEF Challenge Cup Grand Prix
both in 2000. He won the Biltmore Welcome Stake and was 2nd
in Modified Jumper - Upperville 2000 and 5th in the Grand
Prix of Wellington 2001. He ranked 3rd in the 1999/2000 American
Grand Prix Association Rookie of the Year Championships. Coconut
Grove qualified for all major show jumping events: the Olympics,
World Cup, American Invitational and the American Grand Prix
Association Championships.
Coconut
Grove is the first thoroughbred stallion in the U.S. to be
granted a breeding license by the American Holsteiner and
the American Hanoverian Associations. He has 100% positive
approval status with 8 EU, 9 U.S. and 1 Canadian Registry,
the only thoroughbred in the U.S. to accomplish this feat.
In 2005, he was selected for the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding
Program.

foals with a correct build and good legs. They show refinement
yet retain ample substance and quality of bone. They have
a very willing, trainable nature and good style over a fence.

three years at the U.S. Selle Francais Inspection Tour, 2004
- Quinze de Upatoi and 2006 - SANTORINI who was sold to Olympic
rider, Anne Kursinski. AHA foals Coquette - Top 3 Hanoverian
Filly - Hilltop Farm Inspection 2006; Coconut Royale- undefeated
weanling, Best in the NW Award, 4th in the Nation - Hanoverian
Sporthorse Breeding all in 2006; 100% Premium Foals - HOL,
GOV, RPSI - 2006. Five Inspection Site Champions (2 HAN, KWPN,
ISR/Old and BELGIUM (2nd and 3rd Highest Scoring Foals of
Belgium Tour) - 2007. Coconut Grove had two stallions, Coconut
Cardo and Carino OHF approved in 2007.
Coconut
Grove was granted his final approval in Holland due to the
quality of his first foal crop. His frozen semen has been
shipped to Holland, Belgium, France and Germany.
